Hiring a Jet Ski

Okay I hired a jet ski 20 years ago and it was a lot of fun BUT it is now 2012 and I do not hear a lot of positive views about it.

Tripadvisor has a lot of stories about this:

Phuket Gazette has more:

and more

Please think whether it is really worth it...

But the jet skiers did go and help the stranded in Thailand...

Cape Phromthep

This is a stop for many of the Phuket Tours.  There is a small market at the bottom of the hill and there is a small shrine at the top.

There is also a weather station here and the views can sometimes be wonderful.

I wanted to go here because there was a geocache here - which looked like an elephant and we could not find it - next time...

Big Buddha (7th visit)

Big Buddah is supposed to be getting bigger but I do not know where and how.

We took mum up there and paid our respects to the Buddah.

On the way down we searched (and found) a geocache and then fed the elephant.

We have visited Big Buddha a number of times -
Sept 2011 / May 2011 and others and always worth it - visit Wat Chalong if you come here

Antiques, Décor, Silver, Boutique Fashion…

This shop is on Rasada Road in Phuket Town and is certainly worth a browse.

The shop has a very small shop front and I almost missed it as I wandered past the multitude of little shops with unassuming entrances.

As I walked in I felt as if I had found somewhere very special, the room was adorned with a plethora of what I thought were antiques – from the Chinese frogs on the table tops, the Buddha images, the elephant table sashes and the silk pillows.

Then as I delved further I found a dark blue iron gate that led even further into the building – here there were more objects that were all immaculately displayed.

But I have to admit to meeting no one, not seeing a price tag but leaving with a smile that I had seen something very special.

Queen Sirikit Park

Chinese legend says that Phuket Island is a dragon risen from the water.

Wat Chalong (2012)

This was another visit to a splendid example of a
Thai Buddhist Wat.

There is a number of Wats spread throughout Phuket that I have visited and there are still more for me to visit.  They play an integral part in the Vegetarian Festival as well.

Wat Chalong is a popular Wat that the tourists visit because of its grandeur and the complex architecture.

Definitely worth a visit – we love it and there is a number of shops discretely placed to the side for that drink.

This is not the only time that we have visited here
Dec 2011 / June 2009
