T.Shirts and Cape Panwa Promenade

This is something that you simply cannot leave Phuket without buying! The T.Shirt might not manage more than a couple of washes before losing it's shape completely but if it's for just for your holiday then it doesn't really matter!

These snaps were taken from the local people who line the Cape Panwa Promenade each evening. This may cost a little more than Patong but sometimes it is a way to avoid Patong. This is similar to buying DVDs in Phuket Town rather than going to Patong to save money.

The biggest trouble that I have is trying to decide which T.Shirt to buy!

With all these - how can I choose?

Phuket Old Town and TripAdvisor

Phuket Old Town Slideshow: Tim’s trip to จังหวัดภูเก็ต was created with TripAdvisor TripWow!

I have a special affection for Phuket Old Town and if you are interested in wandering about with little more than a map then this is the place for you to investigate.

The video which is embedded here is from the Internationally known TripAdvisor Website.

There are always pros and cons for website which share people's opinions but I will always stress that the reader should read all of the reviews of the hotels, restaurants and activities before choosing. I would also like to add that much of the disappointment of travellers is the expectation and what they actually receive.

I would also suggest that you also read reviews of places to go by reading Independent bloggers like Jamie in Phuket and using Independent Travel Sites such as Travelfish and Richard Barrow.

Enjoy your holiday in Phuket.

The Beatles and The Rolling Stones at the Phuket Weekend Market

This was not what I expected to write about!
Okay you are able to buy a number of pirated CDs and DVDs but there is so much more at the Phuket Weekend Market than one first thinks that one may find.

Every time that I visit there is something that I have not seen previously!

This does mean that sometimes when you return then you will not find what that you had seen previously - I would suggest that (unless you live here) then if you see something specific then buy it straight away because it might not be there next time.

The Weekend market opposite Wat Naka is open from 16:00 until 10:00 each Saturday and Sunday.

There are a number of different items for sale are enormous and I have blogged about this previously
but on reflection I think that it may be easier to look at the types of thing for sale here.
I have started a list.

Borae Marshes

This may be not what everybody wants to do but we did so I am writing about it here.

Boare is in South Phuket and you may be staying at this end of the island, geocaching or renting a motorbike...

We had read about the opening up of the local area and the possibility of a costal walk from the local village market in Borae along the coast to the Mangrove Hotel.

We were late to meet the local walk - they had since left the football field...

What started off as a beautiful walk suddenly changed into chaos! The water was rapidly coming in and the marsh was becoming more of a Swamp seen in Scooby Doo - well that's what Jemma told us!

Our sandals were quickly dispensed with and we attempted to walk through the grey grunge...

Being very careful not to tread on the newly planted mangrove trees of course.

I chose to use an App called 'Trail Tracker' to track our walk and it soon became clear that we were not going to get anywhere. Jemma thought that it was fun and we took a number of photographs.

I do hope that they make a costal walk from Borae to the Mangrove and I find it quite interesting that during the evening we can locate Parlai or Mor Mu Dong restaurants - i wonder if they will ever build a bridge over the islet?

Cabaret Show - Simons & Aphrodite

This is an enormous attraction for many visitors to Thailand and to Phuket.

The biggest show for this is 'Simon's Cabaretand there are now two outlets - the oldest one being on the outskirts of Patong.

There is a newer competitor 'Aphrodite' and this one can be found closer to Phuket Town - opposite Tesco Lotus!

For me if you visit Bangla Road in Patong in the evening you will know whether you want to see the glamor of the dancing and the music of a 'Ladyboy Show'. If you are not sure visit Bangla Road first...

Did read an article though whether we need another show - do we?

25 July 2013

I have visited Sam Se Je Hud previously in Phuket Town and found out that the
building next door had been demolished - what are they building next?
