Wat Lak Kaen is some where that I visited when I was traveling from Phang Nga to Phuket.
We nearly missed it but it is just beside the road.
"Wat Lak Kaen is a temple in the Takua Pa district, and it is south of Khao Lak. At least parts of it were destroyed by the 2004 tsunami, including the ubosot, which is the holiest building in a temple complex and is the place where new priests or monks are ordained" - text courtesy of Aleenta.
Wat Lak Kaen was empty when I visited which meant that it was a little spooky...
I did enjoy looking at the murals that were painted on the buildings.
If you want to read more about the Wats in Phang Nga this is the site to read.
Wat Kaeo Manee Si Mahathat is somewhere that we visited because it was on the way somewhere. This was another stop on the way...
Wat Kaeo Manee Si Mahathat is a spectacular example of a Buddhist Temple, grounds and everything else about visiting them.
This visit meant that I had a little time to take more photographs and this meant that I took a plethora of photographs - so I made a video of them all.
Some of the details were beautiful.
Then there were the decorations of the wall around the Wat.
Then I was stumped when I was unable to take any more photographs of some of the temples - so I did not enter.
Still a wonderful example of a temple visit though on writing this I read that Jamie also visited วัดมณีศรีมหาธาตุ and took some wonderful photographs.
Wat Suwan Khuha - วัดสุวรรณคูหา - (Cave Temple) was a place we visited on the way to somewhere else. I do enjoy it when Google maps works...
The first thing that we noticed was the monkeys (as Jamie also did) and I have to say that it looked like fun but I did not encourage my daughter to tease of feed the monkeys - they are wild animals.
So beware of your food - the money will be bold enough to come up to you and take what is in your hand. Around the cave there were a number of street sellers selling some food and a bag of nuts would cost you 20Baht.
Then there was the standard Wat adjacent to where we parked.
Then we came to the cave entrance - tucked away - and we paid 20 Baht to enter.
And we were taken to another world - peaceful...
In the cave there is a Reclining Buddha which you are able to pay respects to.
Then we found a strange wall...
We continued further into the cave and it was open at the other end - and this figure was there on the rock - I know nothing about this figures - but then we were surprised with the screeching of more monkeys...
We continued into the cave an it was not well lit and unexpectedly peaceful...
