The Queen's Gallery - หอศิลป์สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ

Spotted this as I was crossing the road - it was certainly impressive inside. Here is a description.

"The Queen’s Gallery has been established since August 9, 2003 from the initiation of Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit in order to be a space which displayed the work of Thai artists. The Thai artists which the gallery will focus on exhibiting have been broken down into two categories: The new Thai artists which his/her work has not been known by the society and the work of senior honored artists.
Her Majesty the queen has contributed back the fund which Mr. Chatri Sophonpanich, The committee chairman of Bangkok Bank, and the supporters has consecrate to Her Majesty in an occasion as Her Majesty proceed to offer an award in “Bualuang master painting to be a model for The Foundation of Art and Craft” at the head office of Bangkok bank on June 15, 2001. The money received from HM has been used as a fund to establish The Queen’s Gallery Foundation. Mr. Chatri has renovated Bangkok Bank, Phanfa Bridge branch, which used to be Bangkok Bank’s Musical Art Centre, into a modern art gallery. Her Majesty The Queen, with an honour of the art gallery, as give Her Majesty’s name for the art gallery to be used as ‘’Her Majesty The Queen Sirikit gallery” or commonly called as ‘’The Queen’s Gallery”. There are four floors for displaying art exhibition and the 5th floor could be utilize as activities are in order to integrate the knowledge and publicize the precious Thai works of art to the society." - text from Queen Gallery.org

I managed to get in free with my MUSE card - thank you Richard. It was certainly an impressive lobby - beautiful.

I believe that there was an exhibition of displays under the mourning period of
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

On going further in I found that there were some quite clever paintings and for a few minutes I was lost...

Then there was a display of paintings and Southern Homes

Even the lifts doors were decorated.

Sarasil Art Gallery

Founded in 1999, this gallery features the artwork of Somkiat Kaewnok who is well known for his original oil paintings.

But that is all that I can find out about.

There were some elephant paintings which were attractive...

Wua Art Gallery - Artist Road

On this visit I was surprised to actually meet Mr Zen - the owner and founder of this studio.

He was certainly welcoming and allowed me to take a number of photographs inside the studio - something that I had not been able to do previously...

Then I found that there is an online book where you are able to look at a great number of his paintings and understand a number of them - really quite fascinating...

I have a feeling towards another artist (Andy Warhol) with these two images.

Always worth a visit here - thank you

The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room is the first Artist that I visited in Phuket Old Town.

I enjoy visiting the Artist because I enjoy the feeling that I get.

Had a look at the cakes but there didn't seem to be anywhere to sit!

I first thought this had fallen over...

There's not more really that I can add... unless you are able to tell me more about the artist?

Love the door by the way - does it open?

Drawing Room

Drawing Room is one of the larger Artist Studio's in Phuket Old Town. (Number 30 on the map below).

SO what can I say to add to to the photographs which I put here?

The Drawing Room is certainly somewhere interesting to visit and although I am not going to purchase any paintings it was certainly an interesting place to wander about.

This cavernous warehouse in the Old Town is a showcase for artist Isara Thaotong’s whimsical art. A Fine Arts graduate from Bangkok’s Rangsit University, he moved down to Phuket where he designed a nightclub and condominium before he deiced to devote himself to art that is wholly his own and not a project where the owner and other people give their input.

His body of work is divided into styles, introspective abstract acrylic canvases and quirky black and white cartoon-style art inspired by Japanese manga, most of which feature ‘Peepho’ a cute character he created. While the former are mature expressions of emotions he feels, the latter are illustrations of his daydreams. Most of his works are for sale, and the chatty artist is happy to explain the inspiration behind his art.

Text is from Destination Amari

I did think that the hanging bicycle was a piece of art though but on reflection I think that it was actually the artist's bicycle to get there.

I also wondered whether the Vespa worked?
