The story seems to be interesting but I cannot find out the truth.
In 1785 there were two sisters Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Sri Soontorn who dressed a great number of the women of Phuket as warriors whilst the Burmese were trying to invade Phuket. The two sisters were able to pull off such a convincing job that the Burmese were duped into believing that there were soldier reinforcements in Phuket supplied by Bangkok that the Burmese turned away......
There is also a Thalang National Museum not far from this point - it was established in 1985 and I have read very little about it apart from the above link to Wikipedia. It indicated that there are exhibitions of life in old Phuket and is open daily.
