Klong Mu Dong

This is where there is a local market where you can buy the Giant Sea Snails (previous blog) - behind this there is a local restaurant.

Next to this is a track and a piece of land waiting to be developed.  If you look at Google Maps then you can see that the track leads all the way to Panwa Beach Garden...

Unfortunately Panwa Beach Garden is closed...
now there is a detox establishment.

At the moment this place is empty with a beautiful view - here are some photographs of the market and some of the monkeys just down the road.

Shrine of the Serene Light Chinese Shrine

This temple is adjacent to the On On Hotel and is opposite Siam Indigo Restaurant.  They were in the process of improving it at the moment - July 3rd 2011.

Here is a list of Chinese Temples written by Asia Web Direct.
Here is a link for the Chinese Temples that I have visited.
and some more photographs.

Kathu Chinese Shrine

This shrine was visited because I was walking along the street during the Kathu street Festival.

I entered it because there was a film on an old cine-projector playing a martial arts movie outside and inside there were a plethora of people getting ready to take part in a procession.

The temple is enormous and there are many things to see - but please remember it is a place of cultural worship so please respect it - take off your shoes if you enter.

But my mind was on what I saw previously - people preparing themselves for the Vegetarian Festival - piercing with no wimpering and only a little blood - I am excited to see it again this year.

Jim Thompson silk

Jim Thompsons Silk - it is not necessary to write a long history of Jim Thompson and his role in the emergence of the Thai silk trade.  It is certainly important and the silk produced by the company is always of high quality.

There are a number of outlets in Phuket:
Central Festival - Phuket Town
Phuket International Airport
Canal Village - Laguna
Kata Thani Beach Resort and Spa
Le Meridien Hotel
Turtle Village

but we like to shop at 'The Courtyard' because it is a Factory Outlet with a lot of discount.

I am overwhelmed with the number of visits that we have made BUT my daughter loves it.

Premium Outlet

Premium Outlet is a recognised company in Thailand and the name indicates that it is an area where there are a lot of 'recognised' stores in the close vicinity.  I have listed some below.

The items are sometimes cheaper than you can purchase them in Europe but sometime you are unable to find the correct size.  The company purports to be selling the originals and it seems that they are selling items which have not been immediately successful in the general market place and they are collected here to sell - but have a look - if you want those Nike trainers and they have your size...
