Swimming and Cape Panwa Promenade

The Cape Panwa Promenade might be too far for some people but it might be close for others. There are any number of reasons to come to this part of the island - Cape Panwa Hotel, Kantary Bay Hotel, Sawasdee Restaurant, Phuket Aquarium, Cafe Kantary and much more.

Today I was lucky enough to witness the local children jumping from the Promenade into the water - which looked lovely.

I would not advocate that it always looks like his because there is a high tide and a low tide.

The Cape Panwa Promenade is always a place to investigate in the late afternoon for the selection of local food carts and a selection of bits to buy - from T.Shirts to DVDs to clothes to costume jewellery.

Today I was here before the Sunset and the tide was high!

The Smurfs and Phuket Town

I have told people that if you visit Phuket you MUST visit Phuket Old Town and have a wander about because you never know what you might find!

As I was walking down Radsada Road imagine my surprise when I entered there was a glass cabinet which was full of bits...

The figures which caught my eye was that there were loads of Smurfs.

This is not something which was new but has been seen in the Chic Room restaurant but I failed to take some photographs this time and as I walked away I was still amused - it was only when I returned home that I realised that I did not take a record of the name os the shop - only that it was on Thalang Road - see the map below.

It was also a small cafe and rented rooms above -
you never know what you might find here.

I always wondered where my collection got to...

Rent a Bicycle

Well I have a bicycle already so this was not for me. This is something which was becoming popular as I read this post and it was because of the rioting in Bangkok - not the best way to promote this...

Anyway there are two places near to where I work and live South of Phuket Island

and in Phuket Town

There are a number of companies which can manage a day trip for you but I have yet to try one - I will be going with Amazing Bike Tours.

I have heard nothing of accidents (not like renting a motorbike) so I reckon that this is a good idea - if you are fit already!

Phuket Provincial Offices

I cannot add a lot to this post but the fact that I rushed home to watch The Killing Fields after I read about this.

There was a part in the movie where the characters had to move into the French Embassy in Cambodia for security and safety. I remember that this is where they tried to make a French passport but they failed and...

The architecture is quite distinctive and there are more than 99 doors (apparently) but I have never attempted to count them but read it somewhere.

There is not really a lot to see here because the building now houses Government Offices but there is a statue out front but i have no idea who it is of.
