The British Embassy (closing)

The British Embassy is closing in Bangkok as it has been sold for 420 million pounds. 

I wonder whether they will have some tours of it before it is changed?

Victory Monument; another visit

The Victory Monument is a place that you might visit simply because you are on your way somewhere else. But you should stop and have a wander if you do.

Okay there is an obelisk in the middle of the roundabout and it is quite impressive.

Then there is the most wonderful small restaurant (that I know, there are many more) which sells the most fabulous noodles - Phra Nakorn Boat Noodle (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือพระนคร ) and they are simply wonderful and very cheap.

Opposite this is a number of street arts on the wall.

Then there are the most varied shops for something to eat - bit too much Western for me but sometimes I do need a donut. 

And lots of little shops...

Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchaworahawihan

Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchaworahawihan is usually recognised because of the iconic giant red swing in front of it.

The Wat is really quite beautiful and I did not see many tourists at all - in fact there was something special happening in there so I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

The temple is rectangular and is surrounded by a number of Buddhist statues and the Wat was really quite beautiful and serene - so I need to visit this one again.

They were quite clear about who you cannot trust out around here! 

There was a 20 Baht entry fee and some information could be found in a little room in front of the Wat.
