Wat Bampen Chine Prote

Wat Bampen Chine Prote is somewhere that I found when I was on the Yaowarat Road Walk.

But as I was on the walk I did not take a long time - but I am going again because of this website - http://trawellthailand.com/th/bampen-chine-prote-temple/ - there was so much more to see.

It was certainly a beautiful place to visit. I always get a shock when seeing these symbols inside the Wat and confusing it with the Swastika.

Wat Bampen is a small temple in the heart of ChinaTown - but you may walk past the small entrance.

Wat Traimitr Withayaram

Wat Traimitr Withayaram is a place that I popped into when I tried the first Bangkok Walk in China Town.

It was somewhere that I walked past and it was soooo busy - there were coaches on the outside and the queues were very long.

Note they were also charging for you to enter - but I was busy today, maybe another day?

Khao Tham Bureau of Monks สำนักสงฆ์เขาเฒ่า

Khao Tham Bureau of Monks สำนักสงฆ์เขาเฒ่า was somewhere which we glimpsed when we drove past. A crack in a rock with a Buddhist statue outside?

So we stopped.

The rock was quite big and the statue was quite impressive.

After walking up the stairs I notice that there was a cave at the back and there was a place for worship!

Walking through the cave I found that there were more steps up to the back of the Buddhist statue.

More impressive - I was happy we stopped.

Wat Sri Suphan

Wat Sri Suphan (or the Silver Temple / วัดศรีสุพรรณ) is somewhere we stumbled upon when we visited the Saturday Night Market.

Wow - this shiny temple was a very real fascinating find at the end of the market that we were shopping in.

Following the signs I came across a small Wat which was completely made in metal, on reading more about it I discovered that it was originally made in the 1500's and then alterations were made by the local silversmiths.

There are a great many figurines, sculptures and carved stories inside

and outside the Wat. BUT it is an ordination temple so women are not allowed inside.

There is a Ganesh outside as well.

Outside there are other Wats which are also worth visiting but admittedly this is the main attraction.

Wat Chanasongkhram Ratchaworamahawiharn วัดชนะสงครามราชาวรมหาวิหาร

Wat Chanasongkhram Ratchaworamahawiharn วัดชนะสงครามราชาวรมหาวิหาร is somewhere which I found.

The temple seemed to appear out of nowhere! Entering it I was taken away with the beauty of it - and how few people there were here.

I had found an old monastery before 1782 (the Rattanakosin Period) - the temple was originally known as Wat Klang Na - the 'temple in the paddy field'. In the reign of King Rama 1 the temple was given a new name - Wat Tong Pu. Which (after the war with Burma) was renamed to be the original - which means 'Victory of War'.

There were people outside selling a number of lottery tickets but not for me.

On entering the Wat the grounds were empty.

But inside there were people - very peaceful.

And the corridors either side were lovely.

Not quite what I expected you to find at the Khao San Road where I went in the afternoon on a weekend.

Wat Phra Singh (Waramahavihan)

Wat Phra Singh - วัดพระสิงห์วรมหาวิหาร - is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. King Ananda Mahidol, the older brother of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, bestowed on it the status of Royal temple of the first grade in 1935.

"Wat Phra Singh was founded in 1345 by King Phayu who built the temple to house the ashes of his father. This was a time when a number of different kings ruled in the various regions of what is now Thailand. From 1578 to 1774 the northern Lanna kingdom came under the control of the Burmese and Wat Phra Singh was abandoned and fell into disrepair.

The temple was restored under King Kawila who became the ruler of Chiang Mai in 1782. King Kawila built the ubosot (ordination hall) and enlarged the chedis with his successors continuing the work by restoring the Wiharn Lai Kham and the temple library. The whole temple complex at Wat Phra Singh underwent extensive renovations in the 1920s.

More recently, work was carried out in 2002 and the chedis which had previously been painted white underwent a makeover in 2016 to give them a golden-coloured covering."

The Wat area is enormous and there is so much to discover. There are a number of perfectly kept gardens.

Then there are the trees with the messages on them - quite special.

A great many Chedi which are of different sizes.

There is a small temple which houses a reclining Buddha which is really quite mysterious.

The ornate windows around the temple are a wonderful thing just to admire.

This is along with the old ornate paintings on the walls.

There is a 20 Baht entrance fee for no Thais - definitely worth visiting.

Wednesday Buddha Temple

Wednesday Buddha Temple is a Wat squashed between Wat Saket and the Golden Mountain - both worth visiting as well.

The first thing that I noticed (coming from the Golden Mountain side) was the beauty of the tiling on the floor - impeccable.

It was also very peaceful - certainly a place to reflect whilst you are there - in fact I did just sit down in the corner...

There is a very large Wat in the middle and this is very traditional and there were a number of people inside so I chose just to walk around the outside.
