Nai Harn Beach

We visited Nai Harn beach a fortnight ago for the Paragliding event that I never managed to have a go on - next time - and the waves were big and there was nobody on the beach.

There does seem to be something going on with the small area at the back where my daughter likes to swim.

The seasons are very important here as to whether you will be able to swim - we have before red flags were put up.

Phuket Philatelic Museum

The Phuket Philatelic Museum

The building clearly has history but nothing seems to be done about preserving it....

The museum is not really a museum - more of a place to put things that had something to do with but nobody is sure what that 'thing is'.

A similar feeling was noted by Jamie -

Eat some bugs - local markets

We went out to the Fair last week.

Have had some before BUT NOT the caterpillars.

Then there is a beautiful site of insects of photographs for sale - and now I read that Angeline Jolie's children eat crickets ?

Vichit canoeing competition

This canoe race takes place around the corner from my home - I am not sure whether I will be taking part in it or simply taking photographs.

Phuket Aquarium 5th visit

I have visited this place a number of times and my daughter enjoys the displays, the turtles out the back with the small playground - always a success.

Pud Jor Chinese shrine another visit

I just love to visit these Chinese Shrines - they are full of interesting pieces and interesting pieces.  This particular Shrine is near to Natural Restaurant - so have a quick look if you are near. This is not the only time that we have
 visited Feb 2011.

Rawai Beach

Rawai beach is not a beach for jet-skis and sunbathing but more of a beach for taking a long tailed boat from or having something traditional to eat or sitting on the jetty and watch the world go round.

There are a number of popular places to eat here; for Western food there is Nikitas restaurant Flints One Bakery; for Thai there is Rimlay and Salaloy - or just on the sidewalk.

There is a market near to the jetty but there seems to be a plethora of shops selling seashells which I do not agree with.  There are also a number of Muay Thai boxing training camps near to here as well.

Monkey Hill on Telegraph Hill

There is another hill in Phuket Town apart from the well known Rang Hill with the Tunka Cafe on and a fitness park.

Monkey Hill is situated on 'Telegraph Hill' or on the hill where there are a number of transmitters situated at the very top.

There is also a hybrid Chinese and Muslim temple - Chao Por To Sae - on the top AND there is a great Thai restaurant called 'Green Forest' - a lovely lunch in a great setting...
