Local Market next to Wat Pan Nang Sang

This was a local market next to the Wat Phra-nang Sang Temple on the Thepkasattri Road near to the airport at the North end of Phuket island.

There was a lot of food for sale and I was taken aback by the number of insects for sale.

There were fair rides to go on and a local coffee maker - great fun and tasted great.

Wat Chalong Buddhist Temple (2012)

There are a plethora of Buddhist Temples scattered throughout Phuket.  The Buddhist Temple which is most commonly visited is Wat Chalong which is in the South end of Phuket.

So how do you pray? I have been asked this a number of times so have a look here.

After you pray and ask for good luck then have a wander around the temples and try to follow the stories painted on the walls.

If you want to ask for good luck you can always light some fire-crackers.

Then it is time for a drink - my favourite being a fresh coconut.  Once refreshed there are a number of 'market style shops' that you can visit for those bits and pieces.

Whilst you visit here it is worth wondering whether you should visit Big Buddah because it is very close to here?

Butterfly Garden and Insect World (closed April 2015)

How many times can my daughter visit here and still grasp it with so much enthusiasm?

Forever is my only thought...

This time we got a 'make yourself into a butterfly kit' and we think that there will be a butterfly facebook page...

Suzy Wongs in Patong

What can I tell you that you have not already read about
on the Internet about Patong?

A visit is certainly an eye opener for many of us - but not everybody.  So I asked my good friend Russell (of Sunset Bar) where he takes his guests in Patong to see a few different things.

Suzy Wongs was the answer, clean and
they do not rip you off for the drinks.

There are many bars here - here's a map
OR
go and ask Russell on facebook to take you.

No I have not been here... but I did visit

Does Tripadvisor have a section on what to do in Patong
with a price list?

Soi Rommani Phuket Town

This is a small side street between Thalang Road and Debuk Road in Phuket Town.

I believe that it used to be a 'hang out' for the 'less desirable' of Phuket.

There has been something of a make over to this little Soi in Phuket Town and it is now a wonderful myriad of small bars / cafes and guest houses.  The architecture is stylish and some of the buildings are tastefully decorated and the cafe / bars are welcoming and full of character - definitely worth a visit.
(Note the different spellings)

This may be what you are looking for if you simply want to hang out somewhere.

I did.

Bang Neow Chinese Shrine

This is a readily accessible Chinese Shrine in Phuket Town.  I visited Bang Neow Shrine with my daughter whilst Clinic Kong were printing photographs for my visa.

Bang Neow was very quiet in the middle of the afternoon which allowed me to take some close ups. The shrine is always a wonderful place to visit. We have been here before.

Jui Tui and Pud Jow Chinese Shrine

This is the Chinese Shrine which is located next to the more commonly know Jui Tui Shrine.  The Chinese Shrines are next to each other and there are several different roooms so I do not know where the demarkation line (if any exists).

This is not the only time that we have visited Jui Tui Shrine
June 2011
we have also visited for the Vegetarian Festival and the Baba Wedding Festival and
the 9 Chinese Shrines tour.

Xtrem Adventure Park

Does what it says!!

Xtrem Adventure Park Phuket, Chalong.

It was certainly an adventure.  It is a park with climbing, zip lines, tall trees, nets, helmets and pure adrenaline for anybody who choses to visit.

There was a great kids park as well.
We would visit here again

Wat Muang Mai Buddhist Temple

We visited here on our way to Splash Jungle, which is always FUN and I just hope that it is never busy, very selfish I know BUT no queueing for a ride!!

There is a very quiet Wat which we visited because I knew so little about it.
I don't know much more because there was nobody there.

OTOP market

There is an OTOP market in Patong.

OTOP was created by a Thai Government and translates to "One Tambon One Project" and it was to help give areas of Thailand a product which was 'their own'.

I do not know of any products here that are from this scheme but if you got to the 'Hello Kitty Shop' they have a great selction of DVDs!
made in Phuket?

Patong Beach

Patong is not normally talked about in reference to a beach... despite this Patong beach is a lobg beach with a lot of activities to do here are some - banana boat, hair braiding, water ski, massage, parachutes and a lot more...

In the evening Patong is very different....

More talk is to do with Bangla Road (lady boys), shopping, ladies, bars and more ladies.

This is the road where there is a lot of 'action' and embarrassing - is she a he questions shared...

Here is a guide to help...
BUT mistakes are made, especially after Singhas

Gibbon Rehabilitation

We have been here a number of times - so for more information
please click here for the postings.

Again we had a wonderful time but I was not pleased that there does seem to be a degree of confusion as to whether the monies (however small) actually help the plight of the Gibbons.

I did see a Gibbon on the shoulder of someone in Krabi recently.

Phuket Aquarium and more

We have visited the Phuket Aquarium more than half a dozen times
and there are previous posts.

but we always visit the turtle pools behind them.

Jemma took some friends this time and played on the small playground.

Kata Beach another visit

We dropped off on Kata Beach for an ice cream after a hard game of golf with Jemma at Dino Golf.

After our last visit in January I was surprised at how messy it was.

The weather was windy though and the red flags were out?

Phuket Weekend Market - Talaad Thai-Rot

We sometimes go here but it can be very busy - always fun though.

This starts at approximately 4 pm and finishes at 9 pm and is interesting for tourists but the merchandise on sale is predominantly for the Thai people.
Here are some pics.

This time Jemma played with a snake!
(but it was a small one).

The weekend market is opposite (almost) Wat Naka.
