The Kuanyin image in the foreground hints of the Mahayana influences of Chinese origin. Kuanyin is a Buddhist deity found only in the Mahayana or Northern Tradition's Buddhist text. The Southern tradition typified by Sri Lankan, Burmese and Thai Buddhist practice do not normally worship what is popularly known as the Goddess of Mercy and Chinese Goddess of Compassion.

I visit a great many Thai Wats and even more Chinese Shrines whilst I am living here in Phuket and I am always visiting them.
