Amulet Alley in Phuket Town

I have seen a lot of this trade whilst I have lived in Phuket - Phuket Town is a hub for this.

The Buddhist Amulet means a great deal to a great number of people - my personal friend Chaovarit has any number of them strung around his neck. I would like to find a way of deciding the value and meaning of the number of amulets that I see - please contact me if you know how to help me (thisis2tim@yahoo.co.uk).

There is an ever increasing demand for Buddhist amulets by a Tourist population and Amulet Alley is increasingly busy.

I  have visited Amulet Alley in Phuket Town a number of times (here are two posts) but this time I saw something very different - a monk looking at the amulets.

Xtrem Adventure Park

Xtreme Adventures in Phuket looks like a lot of fun - and it is - if a degree of scary attraction is what you are looking for of course.

So what is it - well the only way for you to understand is to have a look at the pictures and click on the links. In brief - wires and nets and suspended between trees and you move from one tree to another in a number of different ways.

There are a number of circuits for you to traverse which is dependent on whether you want an easy / very easy / difficult / challenging course.

We have visited here previously but we thought that we would go again because Jemma is getting a little bigger and was tall enough to ride the roller-coasters when we visited Disneyland Hong Kong.

No was the answer given to us - Jemma still has a few inches to grow yet - but we played on the suspended net again.

Phuket Weekend Market (ตลาดนัดเจ้าฟ้าวาไรตี้) - an overview.

This is a must to visit if you are visiting Phuket over the Weekend. Could I write down what there is for sale - absolutely not - but it is fun.

I would certainly make a visit if you were fortunate enough to be there on the Weekend. The market seems to have very little management but I can be sure that there is - how could such an enormous piece of land with a plethora of sites work if it was not managed?

Can anyone pay me to make a map like the App of Chatuchack Weekend Market in Bangkok or the Phuket Town Treasure Map?

Would I try the food - yes I would - should you? Think twice because some of it is wonderful but is not for everybody..

Then there are the articles for your personal beauty - got no idea about this but if they can make fake purses I could imagine that they can make fake perfumes - but then if it smells the same does it matter?

They DO NOT have the total range that they have in Patong because obstensiously the market was for Thai people not the visiting Westerner. I do hope (like the Thai people themselves) that they do not sell themselves out to the highest bidder.

Keep PATONG for the Tourist and the Weekend Market for the Thai.

I believe that the market was first a draw for the local Thai people and has subsequently begun to be a tourist attraction.

There is a Supercheap next to the market, parking and coffee shop opposite and a Wat adjacent to this.

Happy Shopping.

The Weekend market opposite Wat Naka is open from 16:00 until 10:00 each Saturday and Sunday.

There are a number of different items for sale are enormous and I have blogged about this previously
but on reflection I think that it may be easier to look at the types of thing for sale here.
I have started a list.

Cockfighting in Phuket

Got you and you thought that I was going to write about where you could go and see a cockfight in Phuket Town - cockfighting is illegal as you can read in this article

Well I have absolutely no idea and I now have to be truthful and say that I have never been present at one or even seen a cockfight in Phuket Town. I have seen lots of places with these pens with cockerels inside though?

But these people found a cockfight and i live here?
Phuket's Secret Cockfighting...
Then there is a forum...

Would I go - yes I probably would - once.
Then you have an opinion?

Butterfly Garden and Insect World (closed April 2015)

This was a special treat for Jemma after school - in retrospect it might not be that a good idea because the Butterfly Gardens do close at 17:00 and there was no sugar substance to share...

The caterpillars were great.

- but a little odd?

The bees were seasonally quiet - there is a bee farm on the site?

The spiders were all creepy.

and this looked dangerous...
