Sanjao Sam San - Chinese Shrine

Sanjao Sam San Chinese Shrine is dedicated to Tien Sang Sung Mu, the ‘Goddess of the Sea’ and ‘Saint Mother Protector of Sailors’ and was built in 1853.

The Shrine is another example of magnificent Chinese architecture that is spread throughout Phuket Town.  This particular shrine, set back from the main road, is special because the Chinese believe that by bringing a new boat here before it is launched for a blessing the boat (and it’s sailors) will be protected, I have not seen this happen however.

If you do enter please remember to remove your shoes and leave a donation for the upkeep of the shrine.
