Layan Beach

We found this beach quite by accident - we were actually looking for the much debated Trisara Hotel.

We followed a number of smaller and smaller roads - crossed over a bridge and then turned down an even smaller road which took us to a deserted beach - and there was only one person, a Thai person, who seemed to be taking care of the restaurant.

The beach itself seemed to stretch into the distance and there was nobody in sight.

As I got out of the car I noticed that there was an island in very close proximity - Koh Kala Island but I am not aware of an easy way to visit there - perhaps in high season there are local fishermen on stand by?

But despite there being nobody on the beach which meant there was no chance of a nibble there were red flags up - maybe I should try a visit later in the year?
